The Brashear Tiger Baseball team was at Green City Monday for State Sectionals. Brashear had reached this point by defeating Atlanta and La Plata to win districts here on our home field. Green City batted 1st and turned a bunt and some aggressive base running into a run to take a 1-0 lead. Brashear started the bottom of the 1st with a leadoff double, but couldn't score the run. Defensive miscues with 2 outs in the 2nd allowed Green City to score 4 runs and Green City scored another 4 in the top of the 3rd to take a 9-0 lead. The Tigers finally got warmed up in the bottom of the 3rd putting 6 runs on the board to pull within 3 with the score of 9-6. From that point on it was all Green City as Brashear never scored again in the 17-6 loss. John Higgins had 2 doubles, Drew Magruder had 3 singles, Carson Erwin had 2 singles, and Rhett Whitlow and Cole Erwin also had hits. Cole Erwin got the start with Jack Reeves, Carson Erwin, and John Higgins pitching in relief.
